University of Minnesota is located on two campuses, the twin cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Established in 1851, the school colors are maroon and gold. The Golden Gophers are members of the Big Ten Conference in the NCAA’s Division I (the hockey team, however, is a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association). One notable rival is the Wisconsin Badgers; each year the football teams compete for Paul Bunyan’s Axe. Goldy Gopher is the university’s mascot; although most fans associate Goldy more with a squirrel or beaver rather than a gopher. In 2007, the Golden Gopher’s wrestling team won the NCAA National Championship.
