This flag is called the Stainless Banner because of its stark white field. It is a historical significant for the Confederacy as it was its official flag from May 1, 1863 to March 4, 1865. It followed the use of the Stars and Bars that had been an unofficial flag It was succeeded by the Third National flag of the Confederacy.
