Carrot-Top Industries is excited to announce the recipients of the Fall 2024 Beacon Scholarship for Rural America: Tiffany Suire and Angeljoliss Myers. These two recipients exemplify the American spirit, showing true patriotism and an inspiring dedication to their community.
Fall Beacon Scholarship Winner Tiffany Suire
Tiffany Suire is a freshman at Southern New Hampshire University, boasting a 4.0 GPA. A resident of Trinidad, Texas, Tiffany has a clear passion for volunteering and serving her community.
When faced with the problem of food insecurity, Tiffany took charge, thinking outside the box to find ways to help her community access fresh fruits and vegetables.
In her about patriotism through community involvement, she explains, "One of the most significant ways I have shown my patriotism through community involvement is through the Cedar Creek Community Garden...Many families in this area often struggle to put food on the table. With the nearest grocery store being miles away, fresh fruits and vegetables are considered a luxury for these families. This prompted me to act and start a community garden that would provide fresh produce to those in need."
Tiffany's dedication to serving others exemplifies the American spirit. Seeing a need and stepping up has made a huge difference in her community, providing healthy food to those who need it most.
When asked about her experience, Tiffany replied, "Patriotism goes beyond just flying the flag or singing the national anthem. It is about actively participating in our communities and making a difference in the lives of those around us. Through my involvement in the Cedar Creek Community Garden and Helping Hands, I have been able to show my patriotism tangibly."
Fall Beacon Scholarship Winner Angeljoliss Myers
Angeljioliss Myers is a rising college freshman from Cimarron, Kansas. Impressively, Angeljoliss graduated first in her class with a 4.0. While busy with school and extracurricular activities, she encouraged her peers to participate in Flags Across America, which aims to place flags on private homes and businesses during patriotic holidays.
Angeljoliss explains, "I have participated in several activities in the past 8 years, including cheerleading, tennis, NHS, my church's youth group, and the Charleston Astronauts 4-H club. Each year, I would encourage those groups to volunteer with the Flags Across America program to help with the flag placements on holidays. That also meant that several times a year, I would be one of the volunteers riding in the back of a pickup truck, hopping out to set out the American flag at dozens of residences or businesses throughout our small town."
Through her work honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed to protect our country's freedoms, Angeljoliss demonstrated inspiring patriotism.
