Montana Flags
The Montana State flag illustrates the rich, pictorial beauty of the “Land of the Shining Mountains.” The Montana flag consists of a blue field with the Montana state seal at its center. The Montana Seal reflects a brilliant sun shining over snowy mountains, forests, cliffs and the Great falls of the Missouri River. A pick, shovel and plow represent tools of the farming and mining industry. Montana leads the nation in the mining of copper, lead, zinc, silver coal and oil. The Montana state motto is “Oro y plata” which translated states, “Gold or Silver.” Some of Montana’s nicknames include “The Treasure State” and “Big Sky Country.”
