1. What is the meaning behind the POW/MIA flag? 
 

For decades, the POW/MIA emblem of a man's silhouette with a guard tower and barbed wire in the background has been a familiar sight to military families. The black POW flag was designed in 1972 by WWII veteran Newt Heisley. It soon symbolized the nation's concern and commitment for those still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia and all subsequent wars. 

2. When should I fly the POW/MIA flag? 

Civilians and official government agencies may fly the POW/MIA on any day they wish. However, the Defense Authorization Act requires certain government agencies to fly the POW/MIA flag on the following occasions: Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Veterans' Day, and National POW/MIA Recognition Day (the third Friday in September). 

3. Should I fly a single or double-sided flag?  

Carrot-Top is proud to offer both single and double-sided POW/MIA flags in nylon and polyester materials. Double-sided flags create displays that read correctly on both sides; however due to the added material required to make these flags, they may not fly as easily. We recommend flying our Beacon® Nylon Outdoor Double-Sided POW/MIA Flag if you live in an area with low winds. This flag features the POW/MIA printed on one piece of material that reads correctly on one side and reverse on the other.  

4. Do you offer your POW/MIA flags in another material? 

Yes, we offer the POW/MIA black flag in lightweight nylon and heavy-duty polyester. We recommend flying our Polyester POW/MIA if you live in an area with regular high winds, such as the coast or mountains.  

5. Is this flag suitable for indoor use as well?  

While the nylon outdoor double-sided POW/MIA flag is designed for outdoor use, it can certainly be displayed indoors if desired. Its double-sided design makes it suitable for indoor hanging as well. 

6. Is the design of the flag accurately represented in the images? 

Yes, the images on the product page accurately represent the design and quality of the flag. However, please keep in mind that colors may vary slightly due to differences in display settings. 

7. Is this flag made in the USA?
